I hadn’t updated the blog in a few weeks, because Jeff & I were gone for a week. I’ve also been leaving my camera at home most of the time. I promise to try to do better. Next weeks blog will have all your Southridge scoop. We understand that a lot of you live vicariously through us. So we will try not to let you down.
I didn’t have a lot to report on from this weekend. Hope Teresa is feeling better after her surgery and able to carry her “special purse” real soon. Friday night a meeting between the neighborhood watch officers was held at the block captain’s house to determine if the “Bandit” has been run off for good. No sightings have been reported about the “Bandit Gang” since December. Saturday was the NASCAR Budweiser Shootout and guess who picked the winner? Yours truly! I tried to tell them not to bet on a Toyota! So glad to see my Dale Jr. running well again. Very exciting! Then we watched my cruise video and Jeff’s favorite comedy of all time, “Hercules Returns.” We won’t rate the movie, might hurt Jeff’s feelings. I will just say it was much better the first time I watched it about 8 years ago. Of course I had drank a whole lot that night! Close the f***ing door Samson!
I didn’t have a lot to report on from this weekend, so I thought I’d post about mine & Jeff’s cruise on January 26. We left out of Jourdanton on the 25th around 11 AM and stayed in Ponchatoula, LA for the night. Our ship, Carnival Fantasy, left the next day around 5 PM. It took 8 hours just to get out of the Mississippi River and into the Gulf Of Mexico. It was about 45 degrees and raining when we left. On the second day it was about 82 degrees and absolutely beautiful outside! We were on deck for three to four hours straight. I’m still peeling skin off my face.
The next day we docked in Progreso, Mexico and got straight onto a tour bus headed for the Chichen Itza ruins. The ruins were fabulous, but I could have done without the peddlers they allow on the grounds. I expected peddlers on the outside, but while our tour guide was speaking we were being asked to buy all kinds of stuff.
On Tuesday we docked in Cozumel, rented a car, and headed for the windward shore of the island. There are only a couple of places to swim, eat, drink, shop, or whatever on that side of the island, but it is extremely gorgeous. We always spend at least a couple of hours exploring the East side before heading to our favorite spot, Corona Beach. We take our own snorkeling equipment when we go, but this time we brought something else also. FISH FOOD! You should have seen all the fish. At one point (and of course I was out of film) I swear we had at least 100 fish surrounding us. Even after we ran out of food, they were circling between us. It was so cool, they aren’t afraid at all. We saw some type of fish that was as big as me. We still don’t know what it was, but nothing like a shark or barracuda. I would have been walking on water!
We were so happy to get home late Thursday night! We missed Jessica, our house, our friends, and a regular size bathroom so much!Hope everyone has a great week!
