Anyway, the tryouts were closed to everyone that wasn't trying out, so Jess called when the judges were about to announce their choices and we jumped into the truck and sped to the school. (I'm hoping we didn't run anyone off the road, I had my eyes closed) We find a place up in the stands and wait for the announcement while talking about American Idol with some other parents. I think the girls are better this year, even though I think the shy 17 year old guy is really sweet. Anyway, here comes the JHS cheer sponsor, "We had 11 girls tryout for JV & 8 made the squad. We had 12 tryout for Varsity, with 10 making the squad." Gulp! Did she say only two would be cut on the Varsity?????? The they began calling the names for the JV first, name....everyone clap......name....everyone clap..........name.......everyone clap. You get the picture? The whole time I have my fingers crossed and still saying small prayers to God, even though I know that praying about my daughter making cheerleader is kinda stupid when I could be praying for peace on Earth. Finally it's time for the Varsity! They started with the girls who will be Seniors next year, then Juniors, & finally they called our three girls that will be Sophomores next year. Yeay Jessica! Mom can go cry like a bumbling idiot now. As she walked out to the center of the court to meet with her sponsor, she looked back at the girls who didn't make it. That was the moment when I was most proud of her. She was crying for the ones who didn't make it (even though she only knew 1 of the girls) and truly more affected by them being let down, rather than what she had just accomplished. I have a wonderful daughter, thanks God!
Hope you enjoyed my long long story! Here's a couple of pictures of Jessica. The first one is just a silly pictures, but the second one I call Evil Jessica. Looks like she saying, "One Million Dollars!"
