It was a busy weekend for Southridgians who celebrated our independence by proving that we can drink any kind of alcoholic beverage we like. Our forefathers fought hard to give us the freedom to make our own decisions as American’s, so cheers to them and all that they did for us.
Thursday night we started out at the Oasis for a little karaoke and after much encouragement actually got Jeff to sing his favorite song, “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred. We all know how timid Jeff is, it’s really difficult to get him to come out of his shell, but he couldn’t let Tim & Lee show him up at the microphone. The girls got into our Southridge version of “Goodbye Earl” by the Dixie Chicks. It seems really strange to me every time I sing this song, my dad’s name is Earl after all and with lyrics like “Earl had to die” and “Ain’t it dark, wrapped up in that tarp” the song makes me feel a little guilty. Of course one of our favorite songs is “Friends in Low Places” which the whole bar began to sing and sway along to. I even found a couple of pictures I liked of myself and wasn’t ashamed to put on the blog, courtesy of Sherry. We had a couple of new honorary Southridgians at the bar Thursday night. Jani O’s sister, Kristen joined us for karaoke as well as my oldest brother Brian. Hope yall will join us again, we had a swell time!! Another character that became part of the party on Thursday was “Old Dirty Dude” and as you can see, Terri and Sherry did everything in their power to make him feel….. comfortable….????? At least I think that’s what he was feeling. I know he felt exhilaration a few times when he was untying the back of Teresa’s shirt while she wasn’t paying attention. Gotta be quicker than that Teresa, old dudes are pretty slick.
Friday it was good to see all of Southridge’s extended family, have such great food and great fun. The newest weapon in Southridge’s arsenal to combat the Bandit is the Super Soaker Sling Shot. The kids helped us to give a demonstration as to how the sling shot should be used in the case the Bandit is spotted. We just need to work on our aim, sorry about your dog Ms. Sisk!
The hot tub was full all day Friday and the guys were really happy to be able to kick back together and rejoice in their manhood. They even had a manly man training class for the younger Southridge boys. Is anyone else concerned about this????? Terri and Tim are sending a repair bill to Teresa and Sherry for blowing the temperature gauge on the hot tub. Had to of been their hotness that made the thing blow, no other explanation.
The group ended up watching the Jourdanton City Fireworks Show, but I wasn’t there for that, so someone else will have to describe it.
On Saturday we had some more great food with the dwindling numbers of Southridgians, and then watched NASCAR at Daytona. I don’t have a lot else to say about the race, Tim won the bet by picking Carl Edwards, who should have won but came in second. Other picks were: Shannon picked Dale Jr, Jeff picked Jeff Gordon, Terri picked Terry Labonte, Teresa picked Kasey Kahne (didn’t see that coming), Jessica picked Kevin Harvick, and Shelbie picked Denny Hamlin. Hey Shelbie, your dude wrecked!!!!! :(
