This week Hurricane Ike raced toward the Texas Coast, so naturally we Southridgians thought about how we could incorporate that into a party. Most of us were successful in our endeavor.
First off, everyone’s schedules seemed to be out of whack with schools letting out and businesses closing down. Our Jourdanton JV game was canceled and Varsity was moved to Thursday night. So we drove to Carrizo Springs (90 miles away, real close to the border) and the team played fantastic! We walked away with a score of Jourdanton 23, Carrizo Springs 0. We also got to see three of their mean players being thrown out of the game for talking back to the referees. Rough town I guess. We didn’t get home from the game till almost midnight and Jess had half a day of school on Friday. She was a little cranky to say the least.
Terri then convinced Keith and Amy to come up from Corpus to avoid the “storm surge.” So Keith and Amy came up with everything but the kitchen sink and Brock’s guitar. This included two dogs when they left, but somehow turned into three by the time the left for home on Saturday. Apparently you shouldn’t drink the water in Southridge. We always love seeing Keith, Amy, Shelby, and Brock. Maybe another hurricane will come in soon so they have to visit again. Just kidding, but we would love to see more of you guys!!
Friday night a large group of Southridgians, honorary Southridgians, and former Southridgians gathered at Club Carpenter (temporarily know as Hurricane Evacuation Liquor Lane) for some good food, great company, and the incredible Ike defying Jenga game. Not only is this game indestructible, but how talented are we to be able to move those small wooden pieces in hurricane force winds? I mean we should hold some kind of record in the Guinness Book of World Records for highest wind ever recorded during a Jenga game. Just like before, the best part of the game was watching someone draw the “suck & blow” piece. I could watch that card go around the table for hours, but then it comes to Jeff and he has to be mean. Sorry about that butt thing Keith, maybe next time you should take a look at what you’re blowing on.
Oh and congratulations to Gary for his first mention on the blog. We are all glad your in Southridge, Teresa’s yard was starting to look like $***.

Jessica and Jillian’s birthday parties were both canceled this weekend due to Ike. During the middle of the week it looked like it might hit closer to home so Janie and I had no choice but to cancel our parties. Jillian’s is rescheduled for next weekend while Jessica has chosen not to reschedule, she told us we can give her cash. What do you want from a 16 year old?????
This week is Jourdanton’s Homecoming and we hope everyone can make the parade and rally on Wednesday and the football game on Friday. If you need any information, email me or Jeff. Hope yall have a good week now ya hear!

I am glad we were spared the full wrath of Ike. Had a great time this past Friday and it was good to have Keith, Amy, Shelby & Brock here. Jenga is getting pretty tense.
that dog picture DEFINETLY needs to be entered in some kind of contest...too friggin funny! I apologize for all the molestation of other's dogs by Hank...what can we say, he's one frisky boy! sure was glad amy and keith decided to stay through friday even though corpus was spared. jenga was great again, especially when someone drew one of those blocks that we didn't remember writing on the last time. look forward to see what next weekend holds in store for southridge. hey shannon, is this comment long enough for ya??!!
