I hope everyone had a great Halloween weekend and that you have enough candy to last till next Halloween. You know I think instead of giving out candy (who really eats all that stuff anyway?) we should hand out lottery tickets. Think of it as generating our local economy?!? If everyone pitches in $20 we could buy like $100 in lottery tickets and hand them out first come first serve. Someone would be bound to win something and we wouldn’t have to worry about all those freakin dentist bills to fill in the kid’s cavities.
Southridge was buzzing all week in preparation for Halloween. Pumpkins were carved, costumes were finished, and haunted castles were rebuilt after the wind blew through on Wednesday night. Jeff & I had decided a while back to be John McCain and Sarah Palin, since he is old and I look a little like our hopeful next Vice President, when I wear my glasses and hair up. Jessica picked her Mini Mouse costume out a few weeks ago and it was killing her to just leave it on the hanger for so long.Friday night we gathered at the Creaky Carpenter Castle to hand out candy to all the ghouls, goblins, witches, and Hannah Montanas while James drove the hay ride around the subdivision. The kids were dressed up really cute, but the costume Jeff picked out for Quincy was adorable. No seriously, the kids were really cute and it was fun watching them have such a great time. Except when Juan made them cry, mean Juan! Later we headed down to James and Kelly’s to hang out for awhile before following Sherry’s directions and turning in early.

On Saturday everyone started showing up at the Creaky Carpenter Castle around 6:30 PM and wow, the costumes were great. When we arrived we had Terri play “Hail to the Chief” as we walked up. Hopefully we will really be hearing that for John McCain this week. I noticed a theme immediately when I saw Teresa, Gary, and Terri. I guess they all wanted to play with hand cuffs. Jodi, Don, and some of their kids were able to make to the party, and I’m so happy they did! I love the show “My Name Is Earl” and they were so cute as Joy and Darnel the Crab Man. Oh Snap!!! Terri handed out the awards around 10:30 and Best Costume went to Tim and his magic box. She gave Jeff and I Best Couple, but when she called it out she gave it to John and Sarah. Well we were all looking around for John and Sarah. “Who the heck is that???” Teresa and Gary got the Sexiest award, that’s two in a row Teresa. You up for a three peat next year? If so I have a Mini Mouse costume I’m trying to get rid of. Juan and his unsuspecting victim Sonya won the Scariest prize. The best homemade costume award went to Jodi and Don, while the best act to go with their costume went to Kelly and James. A few hours of karaoke, grazing at the snack table, and dancing later, it was all over. Now it’s time for Tim to turn his spooky castle into a Christmas village. Come on Tim, get to work. We are all counting on you!

If anyone hasn’t made up their mind yet on who to vote for let me just say…………GO McCAIN/PALIN!!!!!!!!
