Southridge Gulf Edition and the Peg Leg Pirate

Hey yall, I’m back. Hope everyone is doing well.

This weekend was our Corpus Christi buddy Keith’s birthday. The Carpenters headed down on Friday to help him celebrate at The Wanna Wanna Club. I don’t know if there is a story behind Keith and Amy’s bar, but it would seem so.

Anyway, we had decided to stay home and spend some time with Jessica. We rented a couple of movies and laid around like lazy fools. Now every now and then I give reviews of movies on the blog and lately those reviews haven’t been so great. Why change things now? The first movie we watched was “Disaster Movie.” Jessica made this pick about spoofing other movies with natural disasters. Don’t waste your money people. The only thing I can say positive about this movie is that it lasted less than two hours. I can’t believe Vanessa Manillo would have anything to do with this garbage. The second movie I was really excited about. I had seen the previews to “Burn After Reading” and it looked hilarious. Well once again, I was wrong. If you saw the previews and thought it was funny, just DVR the commercial and watch it cause everything that was even remotely funny about this movie was in the preview. Nuff said.

On Saturday we got up and went to San Antonio. We started out at the animal shelter on Hwy 90. Jessica loves to go just visit the dogs and kitties. I have to admit I do too. I wish I could take them all home, but we already have a zoo around here. If you ever decide to add a pet to your family, please start off at an animal shelter instead of buying one. There are so many great animals out there than need some love. Ok, public service announcement over now. After the shelter we went to this reptile pet store and I fell in love with a turtle that was about an inch long. He kept following Jeff’s finger along the glass and trying to bite him. It was so funny. The clerk told me that he was the only turtle that would play like that and she had never seen anything like that before. The little turtles were only $9.99 a piece, but the set up to keep them was around $100. That’s when we moved on to look at the crazy rockin lizard, a ferret, a hedgehog, and a chinchilla. The lizard kept bobbing his head up and down like he was head banging. Kept Jeff entertained for awhile. Jessica was of course all about the smelly ferret and I kept going back to the feisty turtle. All is well though; we came home without any more pets.

We ran around a little while longer then stuffed ourselves at Red Lobster. We headed home miserable from eating too much (stupid fondue). Jessica decided she wanted to go to my parent’s house so Jeff and I packed a bag real quick and before you can say tequila shot, we were in Corpus for what was left of Keith’s birthday weekend.

Everything went as is expected at a party. Guys trying to see how many shots they can do before they are attempting the Cha Cha they saw on Dancing With The Stars last week, writing a dirty message on a dollar bill, then stapling it to the wall, hugging your buddies repeatedly and telling them how much you really really love them.

I headed to bed between 1 AM & 2 AM. Around 3 AM (still unable to sleep) Terri brought Jeff into the room we were sharing with Teresa & Gary. After fifteen minutes of wrestling to get his boots off, he only had the job half way done, but who cares? Jeff decided to just sleep with it on. Less time getting ready in the morning right? I don’t think anyone in that room got much sleep, but I know I didn’t. Jeff was not just snoring; he was grunting and being very annoying. No matter how many times I held the pinch I had on his nose, I just couldn’t make him stop snoring and grunting. About 5:30 in the morning Gary said he heard the Peg Leg Pirate coming to get us. What I heard was Jeff unable to find the bathroom in the house and slipping out the back door to go outside with his one boot still on……..cluck……clap……..clunk……clap…...clunk…..clap. I jumped up to go get him and took him to the bathroom where I scared the shit out of Terri by turning on the light.
I ended up having to drive us home on Sunday, well I didn’t have to drive, but since I wanted to live to see Monday I thought it would be a good idea. Keith I hope you had a wonderful birthday, thanks for inviting us and thanks for the accommodations for the night. You have a beautiful home and the Wanna Wanna Bar is awesome!

I’ll be getting the February calendar up soon, so stop your whining. In the mean time don’t forget that Juan and Sonya are renewing their vows at 4 PM on the 28th. Their reception and the Lion’s Club annual Wild Game Dinner are both scheduled that night. If you need any information on either event, let me know. If you have any other info you want me to include on the calendar, just email it to me. Have a great week yall……
